R.I.P. Johnny Cash and John Ritter

The "Man in Black" died early this morning. He was 71.

The "Three's Company" star died of a heart problem. He was 54.

Damn. The acting profession lost a great guy & music took a double hit this week didn't it (with Warren Zevon passing earlier this week). I hate this week.

This is very sad news. I am so shocked about John Ritter. He always seemed young to me, and 52 isn't exactly up there. Very sad indeed.

I think this year might hold a record for all of the celebrity deaths. Cripes. They're dropping off like flies.

Johnny Cash wasn't all that big a surprise as he had been very sick for quite a while (didn't he just recently leave the hospital?). It's nice to see him go out on a high note, a critically acclaimed video that got him 6 MTV Video Award nominations and props from many of the stars there including Snoop and Justin Timberlake, who said he was going to give his award to Cash. A nice note to leave on.

John Ritter was a huge surprise though. I heard it as I was waking up and thought I was still asleep. ABC reported that he died from some kind of surprise heart problem. I'm afraid, because he collapsed while on the set of his show and I'm worried that there is film of him collapsing and it will be shown. That's just wrong.
I liked John Ritter. He was great as Robot Dad on Buffy, and I loved him in Bride of Chucky and I'm probably one of the few people who liked Stay Tuned.

I'm sorry to see them both go.

John Ritter was on Buffy? I've missed major protions of that series. Now I want to go back and see that.

I liked him in Slingblade and his new show was actually one of the few sitcoms I've sat down and watched more than once.

He was on for just one episode in season 2. The episode is called "Ted".

I love Johnny Cash! His music was so... cool! It was played by my parents quite a bit (along with The Irish Rovers, Nana Moskuri (sp?) and such) so I was familiar with most of his work. I used to see him on TV a lot too [img]smile.gif[/img]

I've always had this strange idea that John Ritter was sick. That he had some nasty medical condition or another, just a weird thought I can't seem to shake. His work is actually quite good, over time I've come to respect him as a good "working actor". Not an "artist" or a "showman" but a talented and hard working guy.

Reminds us that we're mortal, doesn't it...
